- Creating results: a clear goal, which is best conveyed by being communicative, engaging and taking a proactive approach.
- An inner compass: when you have analysed all the hard facts, or are faced with issues beyond analysis, a good leader must have a good inner compass. This stems from a comprehension of right and wrong and good values.
- Empathy and honesty: you have to care about people and stay honest, even in situations that sometimes may be challenging. This is not the same as ‘fluffy’ leadership, but rather communication with a focus on humanity, whether of a customer, supplier, or colleague.

About Marie
Marie is established as a change leader, with her extensive experience in the transformation of companies. She is focused topic of strategic digitalisation, which involves how companies and individuals adapt to the current situation in society. More recently, Marie has also worked with self-leadership and crisis management.
Marie is currently Chairman of the Board of Securitas AB, Vice Chairman of the Board of Axel Johnson AB, and board member of Axel Johnson International and Desputive Materials. She is the Chairman of Advisory Board Corporate Partners at the Stockholm School of Economics and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering (IVA) and the SNS Board of Trustees.
Marie was previously the Chairman of the Board of Telia Company 2013-2019, and in 2007-2017 was Vice Chairman of the Board of Nordea and board member of Oriflame, Schibsted, Loomis and Safegate (among other directorships). She has also been a board member of the World Childhood Foundation, Center for Advanced Leadership SSE, and the Norwegian-Swedish Chamber of Commerce.
Before her board career, Marie was CEO of Telia Sweden, and Vice President at the SAS Group, where she was responsible for SAS Airlines.
In the early 1980s, she worked as a press secretary at the Swedish ministries for Education and Finance, after a role as a financial analyst at the Fourth Swedish National Pension Fund (AP4).
In 1977, she graduated from the Stockholm School of Economics (SSE), and was appointed an SSE honorary doctorate in economics in 2014.
